The city government of Baguio commended racing phenom Iñigo Anton for his recent achievements such as being conferred the prestigious “Driver of the Year” award for circuit racing by the Automobile Association of the Philippines (AAP) recently.
Cheered by City Hall employees, the 18-year-old Anton received the resolution of commendation from Baguio officials on June 5.
Immediate members of his family were with him on that momentous occasion.
At a young age, the University of Baguio student is one of the student-athlete models, who also excel in their studies despite rigorous training in pursuit of sports excellence.
Anton brought home the most awards during the AAP awarding ceremony, owing to his overall championship wins in the top classes of the Toyota Gazoo Racing Vios Cup, Philippine Grand Touring Car and the fastest car race series in the country – the Radical Challenge Philippines.
Observers noted that Anton is on the verge of surpassing the achievements of his multi-titled ra-cer-father, Carlos, at a young age.
Last month, Anton, whose name has become synonymous with speed, precision, and passion for motorsports racing, and teammate Malaysian racer Ariff Azmi, landed two podiums in the Toyota Gazoo Racing Vios Sprint Cup which makes them the championship leaders.
The Baguio boy drove for former Formula 1 driver Alex Yoong under team Axle Sports during the one-hour two-driver race.
Reports said what sets Anton apart from other racers is not only his skill behind the wheel but also his dedication to continuous improvement.
“He consistently seeks out new challenges and pushes himself to exceed his previous accomplishments. This mindset has earned him numerous accolades and established him as a true racing prodigy,” reports said. – Press release
