Ultrarunning enthusiasts are set to compete in the 55-kilometer road and trail running event in Baguio City on Aug. 29.
Dubbed “Baguio Ultra 55K,” the event is an actual ultramarathon where participants will run through five loops of the hills in Barangay Irisan.
The event organizer, Slowfoot Events Management in partnership with Interval Gear Events Management, said each challenging loop is 11 kilometers with an elevation gain of 500 meters.
“The event’s goal is to help raise funds for dialysis patients and to commemorate the city’s 112th Charter Day,” organizers said.
Start and finish lines will be at Cafe Siklista where five runners will be sent off every 30 seconds to avoid crowding.
From Café Siklista, runners will proceed to Bennin Road going to Tacay Road, then towards Longlong and Balenben Roads. Runners will then proceed to Naguillan Road towards Ambayao Road and finally finish at the starting line.
The race will also have the 22-km. and 11-km. categories.
Assembly time will be at 3 a.m. and the cut-off for 55-km. is 12 hours, five hours for 22-km., and three hours for 11-km.
There will be limited participants during the race but interested runners who will not be accommodated can still participate virtually. It will be a first come, first served basis and no reservations.
Top three finishers for the male and female categories will be given awards.
Registration is P1,600 for senior citizens and P1,700 for regular participants. The fee is inclusive of race bib with timing chip. Finishers, meanwhile, will be given a medal, shirt and post-race meal.
Last day of registration is on Aug. 16.
