BANGUED, Abra – The local government unit is eying to reorganize the parking areas for tricycle operators and drivers’ associations (TODAs) in the capital town to help address traffic congestion.
The Sangguniang Bayan committee on transportation recently held a hearing on this plan to compress the TODAs to eight clusters.
There are around 60 TODAs in Bangued, a factor seen as one of the causes of heavy traffic especially during rush hours.
“Ang purpose ng bagong sistema na ito ay maayos natin ang operasyon ng mga tricycle drivers dito sa Bangued at mabawasan ang parking areas ng mga TODA para mas malawak ang mga daanan,” committee vice chairperson Mark Anthony Go said.
The tricycle group agreed with the proposal.
In Bangued alone, there are more than 3,400 tricycle operators with franchise.
The LGU will hold another public briefing to present the plans to all the tricycle drivers and commuters.
“Kailangan din nating ipaalam sa riding public ang proposal na ito para magkaroon sila ng kaalaman tungkol sa agreement na ito,” Go said. – Christian Allister Tubadeza
