Mayor Benjamin Magalong congratulated Middle Quezon Hill Barangay Nutrition Scholar Joemy Duldulao who was adjudged as first runner-up in the 2022 Search of National Outstanding Barangay Nutrition Scholar.

National Nutrition Council Executive Director and Asst. Secretary Azucena Dayanghira announced Duldulao’s selection in a letter to the mayor dated Jan. 15.

Duldulao received her award from the NNC during the 2023 National Nutrition Awarding Ceremony on Feb. 12 at the Manila Hotel.

As a BNS, Duldulao is a trained volunteer community worker tasked with caring for the malnourished in their barangay, mobilizing the community and building linkages to make sure that nutrition programs benefit the sector in need.

For the contest, she was evaluated based on her performance of the nutrition management functions.

Duldulao first won as 2022 Outstanding BNS at the city level and was awarded during the Baguio City Nutrition Culminating Program and Awarding Ceremony on Aug. 4, 2023.

She later won the regional leg of the search and went on to represent the Cordillera Administrative Region in the national level on Sept. 21 to 22, 2023.

The National Nutrition Awarding Ceremony is an annual event that the NNC spearheads to recognize outstanding local government units and local nutrition focal points including BNS with effective and efficient implementation of nutrition programs.

The national evaluation team was composed of the NNC-Nutrition Surveillance Division, Department of Health Disease Control and Prevention Bureau, and the Council for the Welfare of Children. – Aileen P. Refuerzo
