Various agencies in the province will again converge from July to September in a series of games for the 3rd Benguet Invitational Inter-Agency Friendship Games.

Provincial Sports Coordinator Dean Mark Monang said the annual games were not held the past two years due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

It was launched on July 7 at the Capitol covered court with 12 participating agencies: the Department of Public Works and Highways, Benguet Police Province Office, Baguio City Hall, Commission on Audit, Cordillera Career Development College, Department of Education-Benguet, Baguio General Hospital and Medical Center, Benguet State University, National Irrigation Administration, Baguio City Prosecutor’s Office, Benguet National High School, and the Benguet provincial government.

Monang said close to 300 employees attended the opening ceremony and are expected to join the friendly games.

“We are aiming to promote the importance of developing and maintaining a healthy lifestyle through physical exercise to enhance employees’ welfare and morale, and to have economical, efficient and effective personnel in the workplace,” Monang said.

The schedules of the event organized by the Provincial Sports Development Office under the Governor’s Office will soon be posted at the sports office.

Monang said the events to be played are basketball, volleyball, darts singles and doubles, and three-person team and mixed doubles.

Aside from the annual inter-agency games, the sports office has always been pushing for regular after office games for the provincial government employees as part of their health and wellness program. – Ofelia C. Empian
