LA TRINIDAD, Benguet – Efforts to improve access to basic education in Benguet got a boost with the approval this year of the establishment of 10 new integrated schools in various towns of the province and the separation of nine high school annexes from their mother schools.
Integration and separation of the high school annexes effective this school year is in line with the commitment of the Department of Education to continuously ensure access to basic education.
The integrated schools, which are expected to gradually offer complete basic education from kindergarten to grade 10 or even up to grade 12, are, Abucot Integrated School (IS) in Eddet, Kabayan; Ballay IS in Ballay, Kabayan; Boneng IS in Naguey, Atok; Lengaoan-Waking IS in Lengaoan, Buguias; Lubo IS in Kibungan; Gumatdang IS in Itogon; Manganese IS in Ampucao, Itogon; Mocgao IS in Badeo, Kibungan; Mogao IS in Balili, Mankayan; and Taba-ao IS in Taba-ao, Kapangan.
Independent national high schools (NHS) that were separated from their mother schools are, Kayapa NHS formerly Ampusongan NHS-Kayapa annex in Kayapa, Bakun; Sinacbat NHS formerly Bakun NHS-Sinacbat Extension in Sinacbat, Bakun; Cabacab NHS formerly Balili NHS-Cabacab annex in Cabacab, Mankayan; Alno NHS formerly Benguet NHS-Alno annex in Alno, La Trinidad; Bineng NHS formerly Benguet NHS-Bineng annex; Puguis NHS formerly BeNHS-Puguis annex in Puguis, La Trinidad; Ambangeg NHS formerly Bokod NHS-Ambangeg Extension in Ambangeg, Bokod; Marcelo Marquez NHS formerly Evelio Javier Memorial NHS-Annex in Pimminggan, Ansagan, Tuba; and Ambuklao NHS formerly Tublay School of Home Industries-Ambuklao annex. – Macarthy Malanes
