LA TRINIDAD, Benguet – The provincial government is now accepting applicants for the Special Program for the Employment of Students (SPES).
Gov. Melchor Diclas invites students and out-of-school youth to apply in the program.
Registration of applicants is from Jan. 18 to Feb. 19. The deadline of submission of application form and documents is Feb. 28.
The employment-bridging program of the Department of Labor and Employment in partnership with the local government units aims to   provide temporary employment to poor but deserving students, out of school youth, and dependents of displaced or would-be displaced workers to augment the family’s income to help ensure that these youth are able to pursue their education.
Public Employment Services Office head Julie Tabcao said due to age and travel restrictions, applicants should be 20 to 30 years old at the time of application. Secondary, tertiary, and technical-vocational student applicants should have a passing general weighted average.
The combined net income after tax of parents, including that of the applicant, if any, should not exceed the regional poverty threshold.
The provincial government will be hiring 167 students and OSY who will work for 30 days in any of its offices.
Qualifiers will be paid P498.77 per day to be shared by the DOLE and the provincial government at 40 and 60 percent, respectively.  The province has allotted P1.5 million and DOLE P1M for the SPES this year.
Applicants may visit the PIO Benguet EOC Facebook page or the PESO for queries. – Susan C. Aro
