As part of the traffic scheme this holiday season in La Trinidad, Benguet, the capital town has made a one-way traffic route at the Strawberry Farm Road in Betag until Jan. 14.

Mayor Romeo Salda, in an executive order, declared that beginning Dec. 18, the one-way route will be implemented from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. to ease the traffic congestion in the tourist spot.

“The traffic congestion therein complicates the daily operation and movement of vehicles and individuals, especially on weekends and even more so on long holidays such as the Christmas and New Year,” Salda said.

The entry point to the Strawberry Farm Road will be at the national highway at Km. 6 in front of the Benguet State University last gate, and exit points will be at the Pico-Puguis Road at the Palmaville area, or at the Benguet Agri-Pinoy Trading Center diversion road through the circumferential road.

Those entering from the BAPTC diversion road (First Pacific) shall use the exit points at the Pico-Puguis Road or back to the BAPTC diversion road through the circumferential road.

Also, the BAPTC circumferential road shall only be used as an exit route.

The La Trinidad Municipal Police Station recently announced the exit of the La Trinidad Vegetable Trading Post Road is now a two-way lane.

All motorists going to Km. 5 to Baguio City or south-bound will take the right lane while those heading to Km. 6 Halsema Highway or north-bound will take the left lane. The LTMPS also reminded the public to ensure their vehicles are in good condition before traveling as well as to observe proper traffic rules and regulation for their own safety. – Ofelia C. Empian
