LA TRINIDAD, Benguet – The provincial government of Benguet and the Department of the Interior and Local Government-Benguet Provincial Office recognized the outstanding and the best performing barangay and municipal local government units in the province.
Governor Melchor Diclas with DILG Benguet Provincial Director Regina Elizabeth Mammag led the awarding of certificates and cash awards to the Best Performing Peace and Order Council and the Best Performing Anti-Drug Abuse Council in the barangay and municipal levels as well as the Lupong Tagapamayapa Incentive Awards, the Seal of Good Local Governance, and the Development Councils awards in the barangay level.
The Municipal Peace and Order Council awardees are Atok, Bokod, Kabayan, Kapangan, Kibungan, Sablan, Mankayan, Tuba, Bakun, and Buguias.
The Municipal Anti-Drug Abuse Council awardees are Kibungan, Tuba, Kabayan, Itogon, Kapangan, and Sablan.
For the Peace and Order Council awards in the barangay level, the recipients are Gambang and Sinacbat in Bakun; Buyacaoan, Calamagan, and Sebang in Buguias; Dalupirip, Gumatdang, Loacan, Poblacion, Tinongdan, Tuding, Ucab, and Virac in Itogon; Gadang in Kapangan; Alapang, Alno, Beckel Bineng, Betag, and Lubas in La Trinidad; Bedbed and Paco in Mankayan; and Camp 4, Poblacion, and San Pascual in Tuba.
Awardees for the Anti-Drug Abuse Council in the barangay level are Buyacaoan and Calamagan in Buguias; Tuding in Itogon; Paykek and Sagubo in Kapangan, Madaymen and Poblacion in Kibungan; Alapang, Ambiong, and Lubas in La Trinidad; Cabiten in Mankayan; and Camp 4 and San Pascual in Tuba.
The recipients of the Best Barangay Development Council awards are Buyacaoan in Buguias headed by Punong Barangay (PB) Wilnard Tolida; Alno, Lubas, and Alapang in La Trinidad headed by PBs Jonie Puroc, Roger Angel, and Rolando Leon, respectively; Tabio in Mankayan led by PB Eugene Lasquite, and Camp 4 and San Pascual in Tuba headed by PBs Romeo Salinas and Lorna Runas, respectively.
Awardees of the Seal of Good Local Governance for barangays are Buyacaoan in Buguias, Gadang in Kapangan, Poblacion in Kibungan, Alapang in La Trinidad, Bulalacao in Mankayan, and Camp 4 in Tuba.
For the Lupong Tagapamayapa Incentive Awards for the 1st to 3rd class municipalities, Barangay Buyacaoan, Buguias won first place; Gumatdang, Itogon placed second; and Alapang, La Trinidad placed third.
For the 4th to 6th class municipalities category, Barangay Ambassador, Tublay is the first placer while Poblacion, Sablan is second placer.
The municipal awards were received by the respective mayors, the local government operations officers and other officials while the barangay officials accompanied by the municipal officials received the awards for the barangays.
Diclas encouraged the different local officials and stakeholders to continue the programs, projects and activities to maintain or sustain the good performance of their respective localities.
He also appealed for the participation and cooperation of the people of Benguet at all levels to help their local government units and the national agencies particularly in the maintenance of peace and order which will lead to the better development and progress of their localities and the province. – Redjie Melvic Cawis
