TABUK CITY, Kalinga – With forest fires topping fire incidents in the region, the Bureau of Fire Protection-Cordillera hinted the need for air fire-fighting support facility.
F/SSupt Robert M. Pacis, in his keynote message during a recent program, said with Cordillera’s topography, many sites of forest and grass fires could not be reached by fire trucks.
“We need the air support facility to fight fire cases like these,” he said.
In response to moves to strengthen the fire-fighting capability of local government units in the province, Pacis assured the provision of additional fire trucks to Tinglayan, Tanudan, and Tabuk City fire stations.
Pacis said fire prevention is everybody’s concern.
He impressed on the intensified conduct of fire prevention campaigns by BFP stations throughout the region.
He urged BFP personnel not to waver in their information education drives, fire drills, and inspection of public establishments, saying prevention is the key in fire protection.
Part of the program highlights was the awarding of Medalya ng Pagpupuri to performing BFP personnel. – Larry Lopez
