Personnel of the Bureau of Fire Protection-Cordillera were recognized during the BFP 49th Fire Service Recognition Day in Quezon City recently.
SFO3 Arnel Barreras and 16 others from BFP-Cordillera received the Medalya ng Kadakilaan for their response to a drowning incident at the Abra River between Barangay Poblacion and Barangay Palang in San Quintin, Abra in April.
Recipient of the same award are Supt. Edison Pino and 11 others of the Itogon Fire Station for their response to a landslide incident at Antamok, Loacan, Itogon on Aug. 17, 2021; Supt. Nestor Gorio and seven others for their immediate and calculated response to a vehicular accident at Camp 7, Baguio City in March; and S/Insp. Glenn Pang-et and seven others for their response to a vehicular accident at Sta. Lucia Subdivision, Suello Village, Baguio City in April.
SFO1 Pio Mannod and four others were also awarded the Medalya ng Kadakilaan for their response to a vehicular accident involving a dump truck at Ubao, Aguinaldo, Ifugao in May.
Said awards were in recognition of the BFP-Cordillera personnel’s reliability, collective effort, and teamwork in providing emergency response and rescue which eloquently bespeaks of their professionalism worthy of admiration and emulation not only of their colleagues but of the BFP.
The awards were received by BFP-Cordillera Director, S/Supt. Robert Pacis.
Supt. Nestor Gorio and 12 others of the Baguio City Fire Station were also awarded the Medalya ng Kagalingan or BFP Medal of Merit for their response to a report from Baguio City Police Office that a vintage bomb was found at Balsigan, Baguio City on Dec. 13, 2021.
This is in recognition of their reliability, collective effort, and teamwork in providing emergency response and rescue eloquently bespeaks of their professionalism and adherence to the mission and vision of the fire service that truly deserve lasting credit not only for themselves but for the entire organization.
With the theme, “Kilalanin at ipagbunyi, bumberong katangi-tangi,” Department of the Interior and Local Government Asec. for International Relations Lilian de Leon said the recognition is an acknowledgment of the exemplary performance of the BFP and their contribution to nation building.
She thanked the BFP personnel for their hard work to ensure the safety of the Filipino people as she committed the support of the DILG to further boost the firefighting capacities and rescue services of the BFP.
“We continue to uphold our support to our Filipino firefighters who serve as great examples of courage and valor to the public they are serving. This celebration highlights your courage, heroism, and significant contribution to protecting Filipino life and property by fighting not only fires but any danger that threatens the Filipino society,” de Leon said. – Debbie E.
