BONTOC, Mountain Province – With a growing number of people trying their luck on gambling like kulalong, the local government of Bontoc is intensifying its anti-illegal gambling campaign by destroying seven kulalong or slot machines confiscated by the Bontoc Municipal Police Station (MPS).

The destruction of the machines is a crucial step towards reclaiming the integrity of the community and protecting its residents from the adverse effects of unregulated gambling.

Personnel from the Bontoc MPS led by OIC Chief of Police, Maj. Ryan Wakat, municipal officials led by Mayor Jerome Tudlong, Jr., and representatives from the religious sector, led the destruction of the machines on March 11, at the Municipal Capitol grounds.

Tudlong emphasized the collective responsibility of the community in addressing illegal gambling.

“Today’s action signifies our unwavering commitment to ensuring the well-being of our community. Illegal gambling not only jeopardizes the financial stability of individuals but also undermines the core values that bind us together. By dismantling these kulalong machines, we are taking a stand against the negative influences that threaten the integrity of our beloved town,” Tudlong added. – Christy Mae C. Pangesfan
