THE RISING BULL — Team Lakay’s Carlo “The Bull” Bumina-ang secured his fourth straight win in ONE Championship with an arm- triangle choke of Xie Zhipeng of China and won a $10,000 performance bonus at ONE Friday Fights 50 held at Lumpinee Boxing Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand. — ONE photo

The Cordilleran fighter wasted no time in claiming his fourth consecutive win, stunning his Chinese opponent with a powerful right hook that sent him to the mat within seconds of the match starting.

Sensing victory, the 29-year-old Filipino continued his onslaught, pinning Xie down and delivering ground and pound before transitioning to the mount and securing the arm-triangle submission.

The helpless Chinese opponent didn’t even have the chance to tap out before succumbing to sleep.

It was a masterful performance that earned the Filipino fighter a $10,000 bonus.

The victory also elevated Bumina-ang’s stock as he approaches a potential ONE contract after securing his fourth consecutive win, with three of those victories occurring within the first two minutes of the first round.

Last December, Bumina-ang just needed to unleash two powerful punches to knock out Ilyas Dursun of Turkey opponent in 23 seconds in ONE Friday Fights 44 in Thailand.

Bumina-ang, a silver medalist in vovinam in the 31st Southeast Asian Games, unleashed a right hook then he followed it up with an overhand left sending the Turkish fighter unconscious against the right ropes.

Since earning a hard-earned win in October via a split decision against Denis Andreev, Bumina-ang has been sharpening his skills prior to his penciled bout against the Turkish striker. – Press release
