The son of the late Benguet board member Apolinario Camsol took his oath as a member of the legislative body before Gov. Melchor Diclas at the Capitol on Feb. 3.
Neptali Camsol said he accepts the challenge and responsibilities as he continues the unexpired term of his father, who passed away in July last year.
“Ammok nga narigat daytoy nga trabaho mas lalo kanyak (whose life) is devoted in the farm for survival. Ngem uray nu kasta, saan nga rason daytoy nga saan tayo ag-perform,” said Camsol, who is a farmer by profession.
The 38-year-old neophyte public servant asked officials and employees of the provincial government to assist him during his tenure.
Camsol will chair the committees on ways and means and social justice and human rights and will sit as vice chair of the committee on senior citizens affairs.
Malacañan appointed the younger Camsol on Jan. 16.
Copies of the order of appointment were furnished to the Civil Service Commission and the Commission of Elections along with the copies of Camsol’s oath of office.
The late Camsol, a member of the PDP-Laban, died at 70 years old while undergoing treatment for an ailment at a hospital in Baguio City.
He was a former mayor of Buguias and was elected board member from 2004 to 2013. He was elected to the same position in 2016 and again in last year’s polls. – Ofelia C. Empian
