Dancesports enthusiasts from the Cordillera will converge on Oct. 14 at the Benguet Sports Complex in Wangal, La Trinidad for the 3rd Cordillera Dance Festival.

Organized by the Dancesport Cordillera, the event features Latin and standard dance with closed events, which will be participated by amateur competitive dancers from the Cordillera, Regions 1 and 2 only and open events for all interested dancesports athletes in the country.

For the closed events, the categories are grades C and D, youth C, junior C, juvenile C, youth C solo, junior C solo, and juvenile C solo.

The open events are: for couple – grades A, B,C, and D; under 21 A; youths A and C; juvenile A, and juniors A and C; senior A, C, and D; special event 3C, 2C, 1C and 1A; teacher-to-teacher (licensed or non-licensed); school teacher to student; and the third kind; and

For solo – youth C and single dance; junior C and single dance; and juvenile C and single dance while the duo category includes adult, youth, junior, and juvenile.

Entry fees are P500 for juvenile, junior and youth, plus P250 for additional events; P500 for one solo event, plus P150 for every additional event; P1,000 for duo events; and P1,500 for other events, plus P500 for additional events.

Age restrictions for synchronized duo will be based on the older partner for the qualifications on the respective category.

All juvenile and junior categories must also follow the prescribed Philippine Dancesport Federation or World Dancesport Federation syllabus and routine and dress regulation.

Prizes await winners during the competition including P12,000 cash, trophy, and medal for the first prize in any category; P8,000 cash, trophy, and medal for the second prize and P5,000, trophy, and medal for the third prize. 

The top three winners will also get P100,000 worth of accident insurance and certificates during the event organized in partnership with the provincial government of Benguet, city government of Baguio, and Dance Results Philippines.

The second Cordillera Dance Festival was held on Oct. 23, 2022 at the Baguio Convention and Cultural Center that gathered hundreds of dancesports athletes in the country. – Ofelia C. Empian
