The Commission on Higher Education through its Institutional Development and Innovation Grant Program and Higher Education Development Fund downloaded fund assistance to Benguet State University for three projects.
The projects are the BSU Flexible Learning eCenter (BSU FLeCs), which was allocated P25 million, Enhancement of Engineering and Technology Laboratories of BSU with a P25M funding, and Smart Library Facilities for BSU Campuses with a P7.5M fund allocation.
CHED Chair J. Prospero E. de Vera III and BSU President Felipe S. Comila signed the memorandum of agreement for these projects, which were approved and endorsed by the BSU Board of Regents.
Comila said with the acquisition of equipment under these projects, the delivery of services to BSU’s primary clients – the students – will be strengthened.
He added the Smart Library Facilities Project will include the BSU Buguias and Bokod campuses.
For the BSU FLeCs, the proposals were evaluated by CHED “according to prioritization indicated in item IV of Memorandum Order 9, s.2020.
As per MOA, “CHED provides funding for higher education institutions to ensure their long-term sustainability; strengthen their capacity to respond and remain relevant to regional, national, and global priorities; and enhance the quality of their educational programs and services.”
The project leaders of these undertakings are Paul G.Garcia for Smart Campuses, Engr. Leonardo Dumalhin for the Engineering and Technology, and Lauren Kipaan for the Smart Libraries.
Comila said BSU will continue to pursue engagements leading towards SUC Level V so it needs fund generation to enhance the delivery of quality education to the students and other clients across its four-fold function: Instruction, Research, Extension, and Production. – Grace T. Bengwayan
