The city government of Baguio hosted a meeting with representatives of La Trinidad, Itogon, Sablan, Tuba and Tublay last Oct. 3 to extend linkages on programs and services that will benefit persons with disabilities.

Persons with Disability Affairs Officer Samuel Aquino said the city government initiated the meeting to include LISTT in the priority recipients of Xtern Foot Drop device for PWDs given by the Akay Ni Sol Foundation.

Mayor Benjamin Magalong earlier met with the foundation led by Sol Aragones, former congresswoman of the 3rd district of Laguna, for Baguio City to avail of their services for the PWDs particularly the free Xtern Foot Drop device.

At least 90 PWDs qualified for the Xtern foot drop device were assisted in Baguio last month.

Aquino said another 40 beneficiaries passed the screening and awarding of foot drop devices will be announced the soonest.

The foundation based in Laguna is the exclusive distributor of the Canadian mobility device “Xtern Foot Drop” – an ankle foot orthosis unlike the conventional foot drop brace.

Assessment schedule and venue for individuals with foot drop in LISTT is being finalized before the distribution of the device. – Jessa Mardy P. Samidan
