The City Treasury Office is hoping to collect P1.6 billion from internally-generated sources to cover a bigger portion of the city government’s budget this year.
City Treasurer Alex Cabarrubias said the P1.6B projected collection is higher than the P1.4B which the city collected last year.
He said concerned offices are doing their best to improve the city government’s collection as the local finance committee was directed to raise at least P300 million additional income for the implementation of priority development projects.
Cabarrubias asked taxpayers to pay their taxes on time.
He said taxpayers can now pay in any of the counters at City Hall unlike in the past where those who want to settle their obligations early can only pay in designated counters.
He added the city government devised the scheme of designating payment counters for all taxes to minimize overcrowding in the offices where taxpayers transact businesses.
He also appealed to the taxpayers and those processing the renewal or application for new business permits to be patient.
Cabarrubias said long queues indicate there are more people who are interested in paying their taxes or process the renewal or application of new business permits. – PIO release
