The Baguio City Police Office is preparing to file charges against the suspect of a hit and run incident that recently went viral on social media.

In its official Facebook account, the BCPO reported two charges for reckless imprudence resulting in damage to property and resistance and serious disobedience are being prepared by the victim, a taxi driver; and the police, respectively, against the suspect.

Based on the report, the suspect, who was driving a Ford Ranger pickup, hit the back of the taxi driven by Jordon Martinez in front of Crown Legacy Hotel on June 2.

The taxi driver got out of his vehicle, which then had a passenger, to confront the driver of the pickup but the latter drove past him and sped away.

The incident was caught in the taxi’s dash camera, which was posted and went viral on Facebook.

The victim reported the incident to BCPO-Legarda Police Station 5 through flash alarm received by Major Nixon Budikey, who was alerted to flag down the suspect’s vehicle.

Personnel of BCPO Legarda identified the hit and run vehicle and its owner upon verification from the Land Transportation Office-Baguio and was called for a dialogue with the victim on June 3.

The suspect did not appear and sent his representative and legal secretary who tried to settle for the damage incurred by the victim, who decided to pursue the filing of a reckless imprudence case before the LTO.

BCPO Abanao Police Station 7 led by Maj. Lee Alvin Alinao will also file a resistance and serious disobedience case against the suspect when he disobeyed their officer on duty who tried to flag him down. – Hanna C. Lacsamana
