Baguio rider Jay Camero of Ulrich BFC led the charge for riders from the city in the recently held mountain bike enduro race by the Wild West Enduro team in Sual, Pangasinan on May 22.

Camero topped the 40 and above age category among a tough field of former champions and contenders.

In other categories, Vince Dangiapo of 7DayAdventures/BehindBars Bikeshop Baguio placed fourth in the 30 to 39 age category, missing out on the podium.

Rhon Orpilla of Team Orpilla placed fifth in the hardtail category while Marc Camero representing Ulrich BFC placed eighth in the competitive 19 and under category.

In the women’s category, Stacy Ann Simalong of Team Ludbkdz/Baguio placed seventh in the race despite having no practice runs the day before the race.

The race was the first for the Wild West Enduro team and it was held at the rolling hills of Sitio Logolog with a 360-degree view that includes the Lingayen Gulf and the Sual power plant.

Close to 200 riders from different places were treated to three-stage of full enduro racing ranging from steep technical downhill sections, rocky climbs to slippery single-track areas.

A small contingent of 12 riders from different clubs/teams in Baguio joined the race and posted decent results as well.

Lance Ano placed 11th in the 20 to 29 category while Choy Catbagan ranked 15th in the 19 below group.

Completing the group were the following riders: Jordan Ibis of Team ULAW, Maurice Licdan and Ivan Encarnacion of Enduron Team, Arlan Langit of Team Paybsiks, and Kart Russel of Team Hoyohoy.
