A wellness and longevity summit with the theme, “Live Healthier, Live Happier, Live Longer” will be held next month in Baguio City.
The summit will open on March 27 at the Baguio Convention Center and will culminate on April 1.
Danilo Quinto, summit organizer, said eight highly respected and well-known naturopaths, holistic healers, and doctors of integrative medicine will conduct a whole day workshop on various holistic and traditional, alternative health care systems “to reset, restore, rejuvenate and maintain our health and prevent a host of chronic illnesses.”
Several wellness promoting activities are lined up daily starting March 27 including wellness walks, biking events, forest bathing and meditation/yoga walks, chi gong and zumba demonstrations, as well as jump rope competition and tutorials by the Jump Rope Manila and Lukso Baguio at the Malcolm Square.
Quinto said the events will empower and inspire residents of Baguio and neighboring municipalities in the Cordillera to become more aware and better informed of the several, easy to apply ways of preventing physical, mental and social illnesses while restoring and maintaining health and wellbeing using natural, holistic alternative health care therapies as complementary to regular medical systems.
Health talks are included in the activities with resource lecturers including Dr. Annabelle Pabiona de Guzman, Department of Health-Philippine Institute of Traditional and Alternative Health Care director, whose mandate is to encourage alternative health care systems.
Other resource lecturers are Dr. Elizabeth Acosta Micaller, founder of the Philippine Institute of Naturopathy Science; Dr. Marian Alonzo, medical director of the Farm at San Benito; Dr. Ferdinand Brawner, pain management expert; Dr. Susana Balingit, who will talk on plant-based food as medicine; Dr. Celine Barotil, integrative medicine and family health; Dr. Risa Shanti Lim, a holistic healer at Orissa Healing Center; Dr. Anna Jimenez, Manila Hospitals Association president; Danny Quinto, a fitness and nutrition coach; and Gelie dela Pena, meditation and yoga instructor.
The summit will also host the exposition of several Food and Drugs Administration-licensed plant-based companies to showcase their natural health products.
