Project contractors in the city must not anymore worry about “SOPs,” “under the table,” and other corrupt practices involving infrastructure and other projects implemented in the city.
Mayor Benjie Magalong Feb. 28 assured that all of these are now things of the past as his administration strives to correct previous wrongdoings and foster a new culture towards honest project implementation to achieve quality and truly beneficial outputs.
He said that minus all these unnecessary add-on costs on the part of the contractors, they are now assured of full gain from their projects and with that they are expected to give their best in following the project specifications to the last detail and ensure that their outputs will be of quality standard.
“Buong buong pupunta sa inyo ang kita nyo ang hinihingi lang namin, come up with quality projects.
The mayor with department heads led by City Administrator Bonifacio dela Peña, City Engineer Edgar Victorio Olpino, and City Building and Architecture Officer-in-Charge Johnny Degay met with close to 200 contractors undertaking projects in the city and presented the status and outlook of the city’s projects.
The mayor said a lot of projects in the pipeline including the “big ticket” ones like the Burnham Park and city market development and they want the contractors to have fair chances at them.
“Big or small projects, the city needs to but please do it well,” dela Peña appealed.
The contractors were also given chance to air their concerns and suggestions on improving the city’s project implementation procedures, some of which were adopted.  – Aileen P. Refuerzo
