Aside from Baguio and Benguet, leading fiber broadband service provider Converge ICT Solutions has added Isabela, Ilocos Norte, Cagayan, Nueva Vizcaya and Quirino to its coverage area in north Luzon.
At present, the Internet provider has introduced its services to a total of 44 cities and municipalities in the first half of the year.
The expansion allows it to service up to 137 cities and municipalities in the region, including new areas such as La Trinidad, Benguet, Laoag City, Ilocos Norte, Tuguegarao City, Cagayan, and Bayombong, Nueva Vizcaya.
By August, Converge will move aggressively to cover 100 percent of Pangasinan consisting of 48 towns.
“This is part of our Go Deep expansion strategy where we increase coverage in regions where we already have a presence. With the north Luzon expansion underway, we expect our fiber network coverage in Luzon to hit above 60 percent this year from 43 percent by end-2020,” said Converge CEO Dennis Uy.
Converge also offers its innovative product called FiberX time of day where subscribers in these new service areas can enjoy double their speeds to up to 800 Mbps at their preferred set time, either day or night.
“Along with the rollout of fiber lines and fiber-to-the-home ports in north Luzon, we will open business centers across the region to be able to reach our customers more effectively and respond to their service inquiries and other after-sales concerns in a timely manner,” said Converge Chief Operations Officer Jesus Romero.
Since 2018, Converge has rolled out half a million lines in north Luzon, initially just servicing Baguio, Benguet and Pangasinan.
As of April, Converge’s total fiber assets have reached around 370,000 kilometers.
In the first quarter of the year, Converge’s subscriber base has grown to 1.3 million, double that of the subscriber count from the same period in 2020.
Converge aims to reach 55 percent of total Philippine households by 2025, as it continues to expand to new areas such as those in Visayas and Mindanao and deepen its presence in regions where it currently operates. – Press release
