The Department of Agrarian Reform-Cordillera and DAR-Benguet, in partnership with the City Veterinary and Agriculture Office have turned over farm machineries and equipment valued at P320,000 to agrarian reform beneficiary organization Taloy Farmers Multipurpose Cooperative (Tafarmco) at the Baguio City Hall on Dec. 4.

Tafarmco received five hand tractors and one unit agricultural shredder.

Tafarmco Chief Executive Officer Angel P. Garcia, Jr. thanked the DAR for the support that was provided to them through the years.

He said they will also be assisting their partner farmers’ association situated in the city namely, Barangay Happy Hallow Farmers Organization based in Barangay Happy Hallow, BuatBalite Farmers Association in Pinsao Proper, Granjeros de Oeste in Irisan, and Ditep Farmers Association in Loakan, Liwanag through the provision of one hand tractor each to boost their production. 

Their produce and products will be marketed by Tafarmco.

The initiative includes training on climate change mitigation and adaptation, as well as capacity-building seminars on good agricultural practices, organic agriculture, and proper disposal of fertilizers and pesticides.

Resource persons are technical staff of DAR, Department of Agriculture, Agricultural Training Institute, CVAO, and Fertilizer and Pesticide Authority.

CVAO Head Silardo Bested expressed gratitude to DAR for providing the farm equipment and machineries to support Baguio farmers. He highlighted that despite Baguio’s size, local farmers still rely on these resources for farming. – Press release
