The Benguet Police Provincial Office’s (BPPO) relentless campaign against illegal drugs bore fruit with the arrest of seven individuals who were having a pot session in Buguias on Jan. 30.
BPPO personnel also confiscated the more than P48,000 worth of shabu and other paraphernalia used by the suspects.
Acting on a tip from a concerned citizen, personnel of Buguias Municipal Police Station conducted anti-illegal drugs operation in a shanty at Sitio Cayapas, Baculongan Sur, Buguias that resulted in the arrest of the suspects who were having a pot session.
Four of the suspects – Amado Olsino Dolinen, Menandro Kiblasen Pa-ay, Enan Buteng Batio-an, and July Dominguez Manuel – are former illegal drug dependents who turned themselves in to authorities in 2016. Dolinen and Pa-ay are drug surrenderers of Buguias while Batio-an and Manuel are surrenderers of Tuba and La Trinidad, respectively.
The other suspects were identified as Elvis Kiblasen Mocate, Paul Bolinto Mitas, and Eldito Bateng-an Alicwadey.
Police operatives seized six sachets containing shabu with a Dangerous Drugs Board value of P48,688; six sachets containing residual of shabu, four lighters, various aluminum foils, three tooters, and a digital weighing scale.
An inventory of the confiscated drugs and drug paraphernalia was conducted in the presence of barangay council members Domingo Pablo and Tindo Kiblasen and Jomar Sacpa who served as media representative.
The suspects and the confiscated items were brought to Buguias MPS for investigation and documentation.
BPPO Director, Col. Elmer E. Ragay, commended his men for their dedication in implementing the Philippine National Police’s campaign against illegal drugs with the objective of making Benguet drug-free and a safe place to work, study, and do business in.
He also lauded the resident who reported the illegal activity that resulted in the apprehension of the suspects.
Ragay encou-raged members of the community to continue supporting the government’s war on drugs and to also report to authorities illegal activities committed in their areas. – BPPO release
