The city council confirmed the memorandum of agreement signed by the city government and the Metro Global Renewable Energy Corporation (MGREC) for the city to supply and deliver solid waste to be used as feedstock to the proposed waste to energy (WTE) facility that will be established at Lower Palali, Poblacion, Sablan, Benguet.

In Resolution 768, s. 2023, the council advised the parties to submit a supplement MOA incorporating the recommendations of the members which will be submitted for another confirmation.

The MGREC intends to construct and operate a WTE facility capable of processing 500 tons per day of solid waste using an initial phase of fixtures, equipment, and processes that will recover and reclaim certain recyclables, process the remaining waste into refuse derived fuel (RFD), process and convert the RFD into electricity, and dispose of any non-remarkable residue waste in the landfill.

On July 3, Mayor Benjamin Magalong asked from the city council authority to sign, on behalf of the city government, the supply agreement with MGREC.

On Oct. 2, the mayor submitted for confirmation the MOA. – PIO release
