A total of P15 million worth of projects downloaded by the Department of Agriculture to the City Veterinary and Agriculture Office (CVAO) are now being bid out.
These projects are the chicken multiplier facility worth P2M, rabbit multiplier facility, P1M; solar-powered irrigation system (SPIS), P750,000; pump irrigation system open source (Pisos), P2M; and urban model farm-cum-vegetable and seedling production, P10M.
The chicken multiplier facility will be located at the CVAO, Barangay Sto. Niño with interested Baguio residents as beneficiaries.
The rabbit multiplier facility will be at Purok 12 Apugan, Irisan with the Irisan Rabbit Farmers Association composed of 20 breers as beneficiaries.
Location for the SPIS is at Purok 2, Irisan with 30 farmers from puroks 1, 2, 9 as beneficiaries;
Five units of Pisos will be installed at Barangay Sto. Tomas Central benefitting three farmers’ associations, and seven units at Camp 7 to benefit two farmers’ associations.
Six units of Pisos will be installed at Barangay Happy Hallow that will benefit two farmers’ associations while two units are targeted for Barangay Dontogan with a farmers’ association as beneficiary.
One unit each of model farm-cum-vegetable and seedling production is targeted for Camp 7, Happy Hallow, Irisan, Sto. Niño, and Sto. Tomas Central that will benefit eight farmers’ associations and interested residents. – Gaby B. Keith
