The local government of Aguinaldo, Ifugao can now proceed with the bidding of the improvement of Ubao-Manaot farm-to-market Road (FMR) after receiving the green light from the Department of Agriculture-Philippine Rural Development Project.
The FMR subproject was issued with a letter of no objection on Feb. 16, allowing the proponent LGU to proceed with the bidding process.
Aguinaldo, a second-class municipality, is the top producer of cardava bananas in the province. It produced 5,584 metric tons last year.
The subproject, which covers barangays Ubao and Monggayang, is expected to benefit 446 households. It is the first subproject of Aguinaldo under the PRDP, with a total project cost of P246.31 million.
Once improved, the FMR will also serve as an alternate route in the adjacent towns of Alfonso Lista, Ifugao and Paracelis, Mountain Province.
Aside from addressing problems on accessibility the FMR is also seen to boost cardava banana production especially within the road’s influence area.
A pre-procurement conference with the Municipal Project Management and Implementing Unit of Aguinaldo will be conducted within this month for orientation on the World Bank harmonized procurement guidelines. – Elvy T. Estacio
