Dengue fever cases in the city have climbed to 1,013 as of July 13, with 54 barangays now registering case clusters.

Last July 1, the city had a total of 706 cases with 41 barangays on hotspot status.

The total from Jan. 1 to July 13 is almost double the total during the same period last year.

The barangays with case clusters in the past four weeks are Irisan with 46 cases; Loakan Proper – 42; Bakakeng Norte – 38; San Luis Village – 36; Camp 7 – 31; Bakakeng Central – 23; Kias – 21; SLU-SVP – 18; Lucnab  and Asin Road with 17 each; Pinget and Gibraltar with 14; San Vicente, Pinsao Pilot Project and Pinsao Proper – 11 each; Dontogan and Pacdal – 10 each; Happy Hallow and Lower Rock Quarry – nine; Aurora Hill Proper – eight; Fairview Village, City Camp Proper, St. Joseph Village, Country Club Village – seven each; P. Burgos, Balsigan, Guisad Sorong, Sto. Tomas Proper, Camp 8 and Aurora Hill South Central – six; Lower Quirino Hill, Fort Del Pilar, Ambiong, Ferdinand, Pucsusan, Guisad Central – five each; Sto. Niño, Mines View Park, Upper QM, Honeymoon, Holy Ghost Ext., Dominican Mirador – four; Victoria Village, Trancoville, Lower Magsaysay, San Antonio Village, Campo Filipino, Manuel A. Roxas, Sto. Rosario, Quezon Hill Proper, Cresencia Village, East Bayan Park, Aurora Hill North Central – three.

Mayor Benjamin Magalong and City Health Officer Rowena Galpo urged residents to continue observing the 4S strategies against dengue.  

Every Thursday, a clean-up drive dubbed “denguerra” is mounted encouraging residents to do a synchronized destruction of mosquito-breeding places in their homes and community. – Aileen P. Refuerzo
