A complete set of e-classroom equipment was donated by the Department of Information and Communications Technology-Luzon cluster 1 to the ALS La Trinidad Community Learning Center (CLC) on Sept. 28.

Equipment donated were two PC workstations for teachers and librarians, 25 PC for students, 27 LED monitors, two sets networking equipment, management software, e-learning resources, and seven antivirus licenses.

CLC Officer-in-Charge Remedios Lamsis expressed their appreciation for the donation as this will upgrade their education and student learning.

“Lack of ICT equipment has been a challenge to us for years. We have only two semi-functional computers that were donated years ago and it is not enough to accommodate our students and even us teachers,” Lamsis said.

ALS mobile teacher Michael John Socte added they cannot efficiently deliver courses such as digital literacy courses since most of their students have limited access to ICT.

“It is our mandate to support the government to achieve its goal of quality education. ICT is necessary for that. Expect us to continue this endeavor not just in Benguet but to other provinces as well,” DICT-LC1 Regional Director Nestor Bongato said.

DICT Benguet Provincial Officer Alicia Piacos added the e-classroom is also open to communities and individuals in need of ICT services.

ALS La Trinidad CLC is the first recipient of the Tech4Ed for School Package in Benguet and is the third among regions 1, 2, and CAR.

The activity is part of the Tech4ED program of the DICT, which aims to bridge the digital and education divide in the country. – Press release
