Vince Digma of Baguio City bagged the youth singles title of the Baguio Day 2023 National Dart Tournament on Aug. 25 to 27 at Bayan Park covered court, Aurora Hill.
Digma defeated Robson Summer Dartfest youth champion 15-year-old Japhet Malaluan, 3-1, during the event with a P300,000 total prize.
Digma, 18, came from behind in the best of five as Malaluan won the first game. But the tides turned when Digma won the next three games leading to his victory in the event sanctioned by the National Darts Federation of the Phi-lippines.
Other top finishers were joint third and fourth Jessane Delos Santos – iDarts and Lexter Esteban – ADC; joint fifth to eighth Aycee Caibigan – SCDA/CDL, Eleazar Ananey – a Kapangan, Justin Malannag – Betag Darters, and Rhiser Insas – Ambiong.
Meanwhile, vi-siting darter Mymy Santos outpointed top-ranked lady darter Giselle Bulahao of Tuba, Benguet to top the ladies’ singles event, 4-0 while former Darterong Pinoy Champion Jhay Doria brought home the crown in the open singles outclassing 2023 PDC Asian Tour 9 champ Rey Rivera, 5-1.
Winners in the fixed four-person team were James Chan and Jayson Langcao, Mark Opada and Jefferson Dagoyen of Kuku 2; on second place were Adivay Sports Bar’s Dasty Dongga-as and Ronnie Pinmiliw, Quenny Roi Macarias and Yves Binay-an.
Classified doubles champion were Mark Cachero and Edgar Asiong followed by Jhay Doria and Warren Perolino on second place; fixed doubles winners were Pacman/Barabida’s Christian Delos Reyes and Doria as champion while Barabida’s Kugkug Andres and Japhet Malaluan placed second.
Organized by the Cordillera Dart League, the event was supported by Highland Darters, Sangguniang Kabataan Federation Baguio, Robson Sportscraft, Cordillera Darters, Golden Darters of Itogon (Goldi), with the official dartboard by Robson Razor Bladewire Dartboard. – Ofelia C. Empian
