The Department of the Interior and Local Government in the Cordillera, together with the National ICT Confederation of the Philippines and the Department of Information and Communications Technology is calling on local government units to submit entries in the Digital Governance Award, an annual search to help stimulate e-governance, in the LGU-level, to enable them to become catalysts of change.
The award aims to commend and collate best practices of LGUs in integrating information and communication technology in their processes to serve as example and benchmarks to other LGUs, to improve local business ecosystem motivating the private/business sector to actively participate and/or invest in the growth of LGUs, and to promote transparency in local governance, said Local Government Operations Officer VI Bable Adnol.
There are three categories and one special category focusing on the Covid-19 response in the Digital Governance Award.
The best in Customer Empowerment (G2C) Award recognizes the effect of LGU’s practices using ICT solutions in its dealings with the public. This includes using ICT solutions in providing improved, timely, and relevant delivery of public services directly to its constituents.
The Business Empowerment (G2B) Award, awards the effect of an LGU’s practices in integrating ICT solutions, and the commitment of its administration in an LGUs responsiveness to the needs of business enterprises.
The LGU empowerment (G2G) Award, fetes an LGUs initiative to connect data and systems with other government offices, both national and local, for the convenience of its constituents and to improve its public service delivery.
The Government Internal Process (G2I) Award, recognizes the efforts of an LGU in developing or improving its internal systems and adhering to various recognized standards, to be able to provide better service to its internal customers.
The DILG also included a Covid-19 Pandemic Response category, which fetes LGUs that adapted to the unusual circumstances in the delivery of their services with the use of ICT solutions. It rewards quick thinking, innovation, and resourcefulness.
Adnol urged LGUs to submit entries to the screening portal at http://bit.ly/DGAGENERALSUBMISSION, and wait for feedback from the DILG and DICT focal persons as to completeness of documents and correctness of category through email.
