Councilor Betty Lourdes Tabanda is seeking the help of the business establishments in the city to encourage more residents to get vaccinated against the Covid-19.

In her resolution, Tabanda requested business establishments in the city to offer discounts to clients or customers who are fully vaccinated.

Tabanda said many are still apprehensive and reluctant to receive the vaccine due to various reasons despite the information dissemination employed by the Department of Health and the local government units.

She said one strategy that may be considered is to make the vaccination appealing by offering perks to fully vaccinated individuals such as discounts granted by business establishments.

She said there is a need to encourage more Baguio folk to get vaccinated as achieving herd immunity will help the economy recover from the pandemic.

Once the immunization target is met, she said the government will ease mobility restrictions with the minimum health protocols still strictly observed, enhancing the city’s tourism industry.

In the NCR Plus, 188 food establishments are offering free food, discounts, and promos for vaccinated customers.

The food establishments are part of a program called Smart Bakuna Benefits under the Ingat Angat Bakuna Lahat campaign and is spearheaded by Taskforce T3 (Test, Trace, Treat), Smart Communications, and RestoPH.

The offers are available from June 1 to Aug. 31. – Jordan G. Habbiling
