CITY OF TABUK, Kalinga – The Department of Labor and Employment has released P5 million for the temporary employment of 100 beneficiaries under the Government Internship Program (GIP) in the province.

DOLE Provincial Head Avelina Manganip said starting this month, the interns will work four to six months in government agencies and local government units based on the degree they finished.

Before their work deployment, the 100 interns underwent orientation and briefing by DOLE.

The GIP is one of the employment programs of the government for the youth providing them opportunities to serve the public in government agencies.

Under the GIP, interns find opportunity to gain work experience as added requirement in applying later for other regular jobs, Manganip said.

The salary offered under the GIP follows the current minimum daily wage in the province of P430 a day.

The release of the fund was through the initiative of Rep. Allen Jesse C. Mangaoang.

DOLE conducts work monitoring of the beneficiaries to assure compliance to the conditions of the program, Manganip said. – Larry Lopez
