DOLORES, Abra – The local government unit of Dolores recently inaugurated a slope protection project and a municipal warehouse and training center at Barangay Salucag.

Said projects worth more than P4.9 million were made possible through the Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) 2022 incentive fund, which the municipality received as one of the 13 Cordillera municipalities awarded with the SGLG last year.

Mayor Conde Turqueza said the slope protection project was identified as a priority for funding because it was damaged by the magnitude 7.0 earthquake that hit the province on July 27 last year.

Dandanin marippuog ken betta-bettak ti semento nan gapu ti gingined ken layos. Ket napanunot toy numo toy biang  nga ditoy ti nangnangruna a pakaypapanan ti slope protection,” the mayor said.

Department of the Interior and Local Government-Cordillera Director Araceli San Jose lauded the efforts of the LGU to put up projects that will benefit the community.

“We commend the municipal government of Dolores for being proactive in selecting a project that will ensure the safety and security of our constituents, at the same time preserve the essential infrastructures of the LGU,” San Jose said.

She encouraged the LGU to continue practicing good local governance and be a model for other LGUs.

The SGLG is a program of government that recognizes and gives incentives to LGUs that continue to promote progress in various sectors and practice transparency and accountability in the use of public funds.
