The Department of Social Welfare and Development-Cordillera provided assistance to the victims of Typhoon Betty in the province.

In a report dated June 2, the DSWD-Cordillera has provided food and non-food items amounting to P17,872.50 to two families affected by the recent typhoon.

The Social Welfare and Development-Apayao turned over family food packs, hygiene kits, family kits, sleeping kits, and laminated sacks to the affected families.

Both families also received P5,000 each under the Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS) program of the DSWD.

Aside from the support from the DSWD-Cordillera, the victims also received assistance from their respective local government units amounting to P9,806 and from other donors amounting to P5,100.

The houses of the families who were provided with initial assistance were partially damaged during the height of the typhoon particularly in Barangay Buluan in Conner and in Barangay Malayugan in Flora.

The Apayao Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office reported there were 14 families or 46 individuals who were affected by the recent typhoon. There were 12 families from Barangay Sacpil in Conner who were preemptively evacuated while the families in Buluan, Conner, and Malayaugan, Flora reported damaged houses. – PIA
