The Department of Trade and Industry-Cordillera assured the continuous delivery of services to micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) to help them recover from the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic.

The DTI-Cordillera reported there are 48 established and maintained Negosyo centers in the region that promote ease of doing business and access to services for existing MSMEs and would-be entrepreneurs.

As of June 22, the Negosyo centers have provided services to 21,157 clients.

There are 174 shared service facilities region-wide that benefitted 871 MSMEs and generated 962 jobs, and 49 product prototypes developed.

The SSF project helps MSMEs improve their competitiveness through access to better technology by providing machinery, equipment, tools, accessories, and other auxiliary items, skills, and knowledge under a shred system.

Under the Livelihood Seeding Program-Negosyo Serbisyo sa Barangay, DTI-Cordillera has awarded 771 livelihood kits and assisted 2,205 MSMEs through entrepreneurship training, Negosyo cliniquing, and provision of information materials to 182 barangays.

DTI also has the “Pangkabuhayan sa Pagbangon at Ginhawa” (DTI-PPG) livelihood seeding and entrepreneurship program for individuals and families affected by fire incidents and other calamities including health disasters like the Covid-19 pandemic and beneficiaries of the Balik Probinsya program of the government,

Under DTI-PPG, 4,067 MSMEs were assisted; 243 seminars were conducted; and 2,903 livelihood kits were provided.

 MSMEs affected by the July 27 earthquake can also avail of assistance or livelihood kits through the DTI-PPG program. With more than 90 percent of the businesses in the country categorized as MSMEs, and along with DTI’s mandate on consumer protection, Lucas said DTI will continue with its flagship program “Trabaho, Negosyo at Konsyumer”. – Carlito Dar
