LAGAWE, Ifugao – The whole of nation approach of the government to End local communist armed conflict continues to gain ground with the voluntary surrender of an alleged “Militia ng Bayan” member in Alfonso Lista and discovery of an arm cache in Asipulo.

The surrender of the 54-year-old male was facilitated by the joint operatives from Alfonso Lista Municipal Police Station, the Regional Intelligence Unit 14, Ifugao Provincial Intelligence Unit, Regional Intelligence Division-Cordillera, Regional Mobile Force Battalion 1501st Mobile Company, and 2nd Ifugao Provincial Mobile Force Company.

 The Ifugao Provincial Police Office (IPPO) reported the individual was recruited sometime in 1990 and trained in San Mariano, Isabela.

He was designated as informer on the movement of government forces in the areas of operation like Paracelis and Natonin, Mountain Province, and Alfonso Lista, and Aguinaldo in Ifugao.

 He surrendered a caliber .45 firearm with one magazine and five live ammunitions.

 Proper documentation was conducted to be referred to concerned agencies for possible assistance under the Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program.

Government troops recovered on Aug. 16, an alleged armed cache of the Communist Terrorist Group at Maloy, Cawayan, Asipulo.

The IPPO said through the information provided by a former New People’s Army member to the Asipulo Municipal Police Station, the troops successfully retrieved war items that were allegedly buried sometime in 2017. – Marcelo Lihgawon
