The Philippine Statistics Authority is undertaking the nationwide April 2019 Consumer Expectation Survey from July 1 to 10.
The Consumer Expectation Survey is a household-based survey on the consumers’ assessment of their family income, financial situation, and the economic condition of the country.
The survey is a joint undertaking of the PSA and the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas on a quarterly basis. The PSA’s responsibility is to undertake the data collection and encoding of questionnaires while generation of tables and analysis of the results is done by the BSP.
The results of the Consumer Expectation Survey will guide planners in forecasting the direction of change of economy and the behavior of key indicators such as inflation rates and exchange rates.
Two statistical researchers were hired and trained at the PSA-CAR for the survey. One sample barangay was selected each in Baguio City and Benguet.
The PSA is requesting cooperation of the sample households. Like any other surveys, data that will be gathered in the survey are for statistical purposes only and will be published in summary forms.
As provided in the Philippine Statistical Act of 2013, the data will not, in any way, be used for investigation and law enforcement purposes. – Press release
