ALFONSO LISTA, Ifugao – Farmers in Alfonso Lista and Aguinaldo received fuel card worth P3,000 through the Fuel Discount Program of the Department of Agriculture.

The Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources-Cordillera headed by Regional Director Lilibeth Signey led the distribution of the assistance and expressed gratitude to its partner agency, the USSC, for the prompt service.

Signey said the program aims to help famers and fisherfolk who use agricultural and fishery machinery that are affected by the global economic challenges including the spike in fuel prices.

This is part of the support of the national government under Special Provision 20 of the General Appropriations Act for Fiscal Year 2022.

Signey said those who are qualified to avail of the program are farmers registered to the Registry System for Basic Sectors in Agriculture or fisherfolk registered in the FishR and BoatR and should own or operate agricultural or fishery machinery individually or through farmers organization or cooperative.

BFAR-Cordillera Aquaculturist Hector de Guzman said in the Cordillera, Ifugao comprises 72 percent of the beneficiaries of the fuel discount program.

Municipal Agriculturist Eugenio Culimay, Jr. expressed hope the program would lessen the expenses and help uplift the lives of fisherfolk and farmers, as he encouraged the beneficiaries to develop the habit of saving for emergency and for future needs.

Mayor Edralin Alipio thanked Signey and DA-BFAR for the continuous support to the farmers and fisherfolk of the province. – Florida B. Robles
