The City Government of Baguio and the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology signed an agreement for the latter’s adoption of parks in various areas in the city.

Mayor Benjamin B. Magalong, City Environment and Parks Management Office (Cepmo) Assistant Head Marivic Empizo, the Baguio City Fire Station (BCFS) represented by City Fire Marshal J/Supt. Marisol Hernandez Odiver, and the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology-Baguio City Jail Male Dormitory represented by J/Supt. April Rose Wandag-Ayangwa signed the memorandum of agreement under the Adopt-a-Park Program to improve the condition of the parks. 

The BCFS adopted the street island along the stretch of Harrison Road, from Melvin Jones Grandstand to Jadewell Parking, while the BJMP acquired planter boxes from Melvin Jones Grandstand to Baguio City Police Station-Women and Children Protection Desk to maintain its cleanliness, landscaping, and beautification. 

Under the MOA, Cepmo will ensure the preservation and safeguarding of all park facilities, including provision of water during dry season, pruning, and to provide seasonal plants if available. 

Magalong expressed his appreciation to the uniformed personnel for their initiative in keeping a clean and orderly Baguio City. 

The Adopt-a-Park program allows government and non-government entities to participate in development activities for city parks. – Mileyvonne Tiamzon
