City officials will be apprised of the details of the Baguio City Smart Transportation and Mobility Master Plan in twin presentations on Nov. 22.

The plan, crafted by Singapore Technologies (ST) Engineering, a Singapore-based government-linked entity, was formally turned over last Nov. 12 to the city government represented by Mayor Benjamin Magalong and Vice Mayor Faustino Olowan.

ST Engineering Philippines Projects Business Director Wong Kwok Soon personally handed over the master plan formulated by the company as technical assistance to the city government.

On Nov. 22, the company will present the details of the plan to department heads and city councilors during the executive-legislative meeting in the morning and before the city council session in the afternoon.

Magalong said the plan is of consequence as it charts the future of the city’s transport and mobility programs to address existing and evolving problems on traffic, routes, among others.

“This will be integrated to our smart city system which aims to achieve e-governance in addressing the city’s problems on traffic, peace and order and disaster management. We are grateful especially since it was done for us at no cost by a prestigious company that formulated and executed no less than the transportation and mobility program of Singapore,” the mayor said.

ST Engineering, which specializes in aerospace, electronics, land systems and marine sectors, drafted the plan after a series of consultation workshops with city government executives, national government offices, and stakeholders. – Aileen P. Refuerzo
