Four Cordillerans will be part of the Smart/MVP Sports Foundation national kyorugi and poomsae teams that saw action in two prestigious tournaments in South Korea from June 22 to July 5.

Tokyo Olympian Kurt Barbosa of Abra led the 10-man kyorugi team, while Angelica Joyce Gaw, Jeordan Dominguez, and Justin Kobe Macario of Baguio City are part of the 13-man poomsae team that will complete in the 2022 Asian Taekwondo Championships set June 22 to 27, and the Chucheon Korea Open Taekwondo Championships set June 29 to July 5.

The 23-man national team will be accompanied by five coaches, who were behind the successful campaigns in previous international taekwondo competitions.

Other members of the kyorugi team are Darius Venerable, Rodolfo Reyes, Jr., Arven Alcantara, Dave Cea, Isarel Cesar Cantos, Joseph Chua, Joaquin Dominic Tuzon, Raphael Enrico Mella, Patrick King Perez, Kirstie Elaine Alora, Sharifa Vianca Dela Cruz, Laeia Simoune Soria, Aidaine Krishia Laxa, Juvenile Faye Crisostomo, Janna Dominique Oliva, Baby Jessica Canabal, and Realis Tabiando.

The Philippine Sports Commission, Philippine Olympic Committee, and Milo also support the national squad.

Many of the members of kyorugi and poomsae teams were medalists in the recent 31st Southeast Asian Games held in Hanoi, Vietnam. – Harley F. Palangchao
