GENOMIC SURVEILLANCE — The World Health Organization-Western Pacific Region through its Emerging Molecular Pathogen Characterization Technologies Surveillance Network program, together with the DOH Epidemiology Bureau conducted a genomic surveillance training among the health officers from Luzon with the objective of preparing them for future pandemics, like the Covid-19. Genomic surveillance is a process of analyzing the similarities and differences of specimen sequences. It is through this process that new organisms or virus variants are detected, and changes or trends are monitored. — DOH-EB photo
