LA TRINIDAD, Benguet – The Cordillera Regional Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (CRDRRMC) headed by the Office of Civil Defense opened its 2020 Regional DRRM Caravan with a joint meeting with the Benguet Provincial DRRM Council.
Primary agenda included the present concern on the Covid-19, African swine fever, forest fires, and DRRM plans and activities in the province where stakeholders can have point of convergence.
The DRRM caravan, which is now on its second year, is an avenue for the OCD and the CRDRRMC to update its provincial and municipal level counterparts on the programs, projects and activities being implemented in the region and to discuss issues and concerns pertaining to the implementation of DRR-related programs at the local level.
“With the emergence of various hazards issues and concerns besetting our populace, the more that we need to converge and harmonize our efforts,” he added.
Mogol presented CRDRRMC‘s strategy for 2020.
The Department of Science and Technology presented updates on prevention and mitigation, the Department of the Interior and Local Government on disaster preparedness, the National Economic Development Authority on disaster rehabilitation efforts, and the Commission on Audit on the use of local DRRM funds.
The PDRRMC also presented its 2020 work and financial plan while the OCD Policy Development and Planning Section also looked into the existing DRRM plans of the different municipal DRRM offices that are present during the meeting.
