HEALTHIEST MOM AND CHILD — Kurt Tiw-an from Barangay Gonogon, Bontoc, Mountain Province, who placed first  as the healthiest child,  received their cash prizes and certificates which were handed over Mayor Jerome Tudlong, Jr., Municipal Health Officer Dr. Diga Kay Gomez, and Municipal Nutrition Action Officer Venous Cofulan on May 29. — Jovi Lopez

BONTOC, Mountain Province – The local government recently awarded the winners in the Search for the Healthiest Mother and Child 2023.

Kurt Tiw-an from Barangay Gonogon was declared the healthiest child with an average of 98 percent. He received P2,500 for winning the Search for the Healthiest Child Category.

With an average of 96 percent, Jess Alingcayon from Barangay Tocucan placed second and received P1,500 while Illiana Bongyao from Barangay Samoki garnered a 95 percent average and won P1,000 cash. 

In the Search for the Healthiest Mother Category, Reymar Segseg of Bontoc Ili was declared the winner, garnering an average score of 93 percent.

Joan Hewan from Can-eo with an average of 92 percent and Kimberly Liswid from Caluttit with an average of 87 percent were declared the second and third place winners, respectively.

The winners in the healthiest mother category received the same amount.

Mayor Jerome Tudlong, Jr., Councilor Benedict Odsey II who chairs the committee on health, Municipal Health Officer Diga Kay Gomez, and Municipal Nutrition Action Officer Venous Cofulan handed over the cash prizes and certificates to the winners. 

The contest was initiated by the local government unit through the Municipal Health Office, as part of the initiative to increase awareness on the value of proper nutrition in the first 1,000 days of life in preventing malnutrition. – Shannon Anthea S. Pagaduan
