ITOGON, Benguet – Mayor Victorio Palangdan has called on residents of the municipality to leash  their  animals as the town is enhancing its roads and corners with street paintings, murals, and landscapes for cleaner and pleasant surroundings.

Palangdan said this is in connection with the road clearing project and anchored on the solid waste program of the local government.

He also instructed the community to include stray animals along barangay, municipal, provincial or national roads in the road clearing program as the animals cause accidents.

Palangdan cited the presence of dogs, goats, sheep, chicken, and ducks roaming around streets and public places.

He added owners of cows and horses should have their pastureland.

“We have to protect our families. Let us clean our surroundings. You keep your dogs in your backyard so that they will not roam around and scatter their poop that may become source of sickness,” Palangdan said.

He said stray animals roaming around populated areas such from Tuding, Ucab, and Poblacion have decreased, but he said he still went around asking residents to heed the local government’s appeal for them to leash their animals.
