To encourage more participants, the registration fee for the Itogon uphill bike race for-a-cause on Feb. 20 has been cut from P700 to P500 with the help of sponsors.
“We will reimburse the excess on race day to those who have already paid P700. Just show your proof of payment,” event organizer Baguio JCI Sunflower said.
Registration is ongoing with the event themed “Redefining fitness, elevating mental health awareness.”
The bike race features male mountain bike for ages 16 years old and below, 17 to 19, 20 to 29, 30 to 39, 40 to 49, 50 to 59, and 60 and up; female MTB open; and road bike male and female open.
Starting line will be at Maligaya, Ucab, Itogon, Benguet and will end at Wright Park’s Lake Drive in Baguio City.
Bikers will go through a 11.5-kilometer distance with an elevation gain of 775 meters.
Prizes await winners with P1,000 cash and trophy for the champion in each ca-tegory while the other top 10 finishers will be given medals.
The top 10 finishers per category will also get a seven-day gym usage at Anytime Fitness along Leonard Wood. Also to be given away are finisher’s medals and consolation prizes courtesy of Highland Bike Shop.
Bikers will get a chance to have an RUX mountain bike courtesy of Toyville Bisikleta. 
Proceeds of the event will be used for the psychological care of selected clients of Baguio-Benguet Services and Consultancy, organizers said.
Participants may join the photo contest that will promote the upcoming event.
Bikers, who are registered and fully paid, must have three members per team. They must take a photo together with their bikes using the hashtags #ItogonUphillBikeRace #mentalhealthawareness.
They can upload one entry only in the comments section of the “Itogon Uphill Bike Race For-A-Cause” Facebook account.
The photograph with the highest number of reactions will be the winner. Deadline to comment on the entries is on Feb. 14.
