Baguio taekwondo poomsae pride Justin Kobe Macario joined the elite rank of world-class Filipino TKD poomsae athletes in the world.
Macario ranked third in the March 2022 World Freestyle Poomsae for males over 17 years old with 38.27 points tailing Andreas Bregnballe Sorensen of Denmark with 56.32 points and Namhoon Lee of Korea with 60 points.
Macario is a pro-duct of Baguio City National High School who was recruited by National University to form part of its multi-awarded team before he was offered better scholarship package by the University of Sto. Tomas.
Multiple taekwondo poomsae champion Jeordan Dominguez of Baguio and Mountain Province has not reached the world ranking this year.
Rodolfo Reyes, Jr. also ranked third in male under 30 with 55.93 points next to Ryan Real of the United States and Joel Van Der Weide of Netherlands with 84 and 103.56 points, respectively.
Joce Lyn Ninobla also ranked third in the female under 30 with 65 points, the highest among all Filipino athletes listed in the world rankings.
She was tailing Paula Pregoso of Mexico with 73.46 points and Eva Sandersen of Denmark with 191.50 points.
Also in the list is Janna Dominique Oliva who ranked fourth in the female over 17 with 32.79 points behind Adalos Munoz of the U.S. with 50.40 points.
Completing the roster of world-ranked athletes is Darius Venerable who ranked fifth in the male over 17 with 31.20 points.
Having listed in the world rankings means better chances of qualifying in world tournaments. – Harley F. Palangchao
