LUBUAGAN, Kalinga – Thirteen families in the province who are beneficiaries of the Balik probinsiya, bagong pag-asa program received their payout last Aug. 25 from the Department of Social Welfare and Development

Seven families from this town received P50,000 each as livelihood settlement grant while another got P35,000 since the family already received P15,000 last year.

Mayor Joel Tagaotao and Balik Probinsiya focal person Christopher Daoayen led the distribution of the grant.

There are 22 families in Lubuagan who are enrolled in the program. The papers of the remaining 14 families are still on process but their be-nefits will be released once documentary               requirements are completed.

In Tinglayan, three families received P40,000 each transitory assistance package while one got P34,400.

In Pasil, one beneficiary received transitory assistance package.

The transitory assistance package of P50,0000 maximum is the first assistance given to beneficiaries for the needs of children and the amount depends on the assessment of the DSWD in consideration of the number of a  family household. The Balik probinsiya, bagong pag-asa program aims to benefit low-income families who decide to leave urban areas and return home to their provinces to start a new life with support from government agencies. – Peter A.
